Serious amateurs over generations have always understood the true value of the clubs and societies that have supported their interests and encouraged their passions. And inspiring every amateur to be the best they can while at the same time protecting many of our customs and traditions from extinction has been a hallmark of these same organisations.

But what is truly remarkable is just how many of these groups have been with us for over 100 years. At Amateur Accolades we're listing those who have reached that incredible milestone.

Recognising both their unique history and continued importance to amateurs today is perhaps the greatest accolade we can give them. And while some of their ages might surprise you it's their combined years of service to society that gives true meaning to the word awesome.

Brecon County Show: Centuries of Farming Pride and Rural Tradition

Widely regarded as the oldest agricultural show in Britain, the Brecon County Show stands as one of Wales’s most enduring celebrations of rural life. With origins dating back to the mid-18th century, the show has been bringing farming communities together for well over 250 years, earning a special place in both local and national history. What began as a modest livestock gathering has grown into one of the most respected events in the agricultural calendar. Held annually on the outskirts of Brecon, the show has long provided a vital platform for farmers to showcase the best of British livestock, from cattle and sheep to horses and ponies. Over the centuries, it has adapted to changing times while remaining firmly rooted in tradition.
